Our client had an old product which featured limited functionality, flexibility and utilised obsolete technology.
The system used a PC audio card for telephone interfacing but needed to integrate legacy radio and telephony systems with modern digital communications.
This method provided:
- Limited functionality
- Obsolete ISA bus technology – which was proving to be expensive
- Marginal audio quality
- A limited number of ports (3 phono, 1 serial)
The Solution:
GSPK Design was able to provide a complete solution to client specifications - from design through to manufacture. This included creating electronic circuit diagrams, PCB design, manufacture and assembly, design of the housing unit and design for test and manufacture.
The new product design now features:

- The latest DSP and CODEC technology
- 4 balanced audio ports with improved sound quality
- Digital audio quality
- 2 auxiliary ports for connection to peripheral equipment
- Record and playback ports
- Speaker and accessory ports
- 2 operator and 2 supervisor headset ports
- Compact desk mounted unit
- Readily available 12V DC power supply
The Result:
An audio mixing unit which has improved incident and despatch operations within emergency services control rooms.
