The Problem:
Our client’s product was a fan unit which was being installed within the roofs of conservatories. At the time they were experiencing major product failures, especially during the summer months, due to the product overheating. As their core product, this was having a major knock on effect on conservatory sales and as a result, they needed an electronic design specialist that could act quickly to solve the problem.
After thorough investigation we discovered that the existing design had major problems.
The electronics within the application were not up to the job and the temperature cut-out sensor was inappropriately located next to the electronics which was resulting in the product tripping out and overheating all the time.
The Solution:
GSPK Design was able to modify the existing design so our customer would not have to re invest in expensive tooling and at the same time resolving all the issues. We set our design engineers to work on the project and discovered that the actual re-design was fairly simple and involved some modifications to the existing electronics and the moving of the temperature sensor.
The Result:
The GSPK Design team, using the guidelines provided, endeavoured to modify and improve upon every aspect of the brief by providing:
- A reliable new unit that that did not fail in the field
- A re-work solution for existing products currently in the field
- Reduced manufacturing costs
- A reduced number of product returns
The system was manufactured by GSPK Design until the volumes reached such a level that it was viable to pass the manufacturing over to our sister company GSPK ElectronicsLtd . Sales of the product have steadily increased and our customer now has an excellent reputation within the market place with no failures reported.
